Bezau
Main town and centre of the Bregenzerwald
In the middle of the Bregenzerwald is the main town of Bezau, it lies at an altitude of 650 metres and has a population of about 2000. Bezau used to be the end station on the Bregenzerwald railway, nowadays a journey with the "Wälderbähnle", as it is lovingly known, is a summer attraction for young and old railway fans.
Bezau offers a large variety of small shops and restaurants - from fashion and sport to wooden toys, beauty and well-being. Regional specialities can be found in the local supermarkets such as locally roasted coffee.
From Bezau there are many sights and peaks to be explored and hiked. For those preferring a shorter walk but, but hoping to be equally impressed by the endless views, they take the Bregenzer cable car.
